STaSS was formed in May 2007 by Tina Latifah Jones and Debra-Jane Nelson with the aim of supporting people living with HIV, Hepatitis and other Blood Bourne Viruses (BBVs) and those closely affected by these conditions, preventing the spread of viruses and promoting Positive Sexual Health through education, training, research and community initiatives. STaSS plays a major role in developing a co-ordinated response to the challenges of HIV/AIDS in Milton Keynes, surrounding areas and beyond.
STaSS is a service tailored to meet the diverse needs of its service-users, majority of whom are from ethnic minority backgrounds. STaSS have been providing an excellent, unique and certified support service with a strong client base.
Biography of Tina Latifah Jones
Tina has been in the Health and Social Care profession for over 15 years working within the Private, Public and the Voluntary sector. She has worked on various HIV/AIDS projects in Africa, USA and in the UK. Tina founded STaSS with her best friend Debra-Jane Nelson in May 2007, after she identified a gap in service provision for people living with or closely affected by HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis and other Blood Bourne Viruses (BBV) in Milton Keynes and surrounding areas.
Tina is a Senior Social Worker and a Therapeutic Trainer for a Fostering Agency and holds a Masters degree from the University of Warwick. Tina is currently undertaking a second Masters degree in Leadership and Management with the University of Bedfordshire. She is an executive member for a number of Advocacy and Community groups in Milton Keynes and London. She is a recipient of a number of awards for her philanthropic work including the ‘Championing Change’ Award (2008) and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Equality Award in 2012. Tina has supported and continues to support a wide range of people living with and closely affected by HIV,Hepatitis and other BBVs to have a better understanding of their condition. This, she hopes, will enable them to manage their conditions better and enjoy life to the fullest without prejudice. Tina is married to Anwar and they have three beautiful children.
Biography of Debra-Jane Nelson
Debbie is an award winning entrepreneur and philanthropist. She co-founded STaSS with Tina in Milton Keynes in May 2007 and exactly 2 years later moved to Ghana. STaSS was registered in Ghana as Shika Tamaa Foundation with the ambition of running a parallel service to that of UK but this could not be pursued to expectation due to financial, administrative, economical and government limitations.
She is an MBA holder in International Business from Coventry University, UK and now President of its Alumnus in Ghana. She got off the corporate career ladder in 2013 and embarked on her drive to today’s accomplishments.
Currently the Proprietor and Event Consultant at Think Mahogany Ltd. Ghana’s Event Management Company with the highest social following. Along the same line of business, she is the Personal Bridal Stylist at Blush Lace Bridal, helping clients pull off the perfect wedding look in style.
She is great at developing artistic concepts and often described as a creative person with impressive ideas. From her success, experience and expertise, she was made one of the Training Managers at Events Masterclass Ghana, the trusted events training solution; delivering professional and quality events management and design courses.
She identifies, implements and promotes enhancements to procedures and has high accountability for achieving objectives and successful closure of projects. This pushed her to start two other projects: Charis Jadlen Consultancy, whose main objectives are to help small businesses keep their vision fulfilled and to provide solutions for individuals seeking to grow their careers, and The Tidy Desk Project, delivering seamless paperwork workflow, providing accountable procedures for organized information through a personalized administrative system for clients in the creative business industry.
She also recently embarked on another adventure. She is the Managing Partner at AOKI Ghana, retailers of natural tea, edible seeds and organic oils.
On to her goodwill, she is an advocate of Breast Cancer Support and Education Initiatives in Ghana, working closely with Run For A Cure Ghana with works in progress to support the Sickle Cell Society as well.
35 years old, single with no children. She is result-oriented, business minded, principled, ambitious, and hardworking with endearing potentials. She has tenacity and a very strong desire to succeed.
